My Top 5 Concealers

Back with a “Top 5” post and today, we are talking concealers! To preface and set you up for the post – I have normal skin that can get a little dry in the winter and a little oily in the summer. My biggest concern with concealers is whether or not they cover up my dark circles but even those, I don’t always get. I look for concealers that “freshen up” my undereye area. So, if you have bags or really dark circles, we may not necessarily have the same taste in concealers but I am going to cover the bases and let you guys know whether the concealers I’m talking about today would be good for other concerns as well.

The Winners…

Urban Decay Naked Concealer – If I had to pick one concealer to use for the rest of my life, this would be it. This concealer is creamy, high coverage yet not cakey at all and makes your undereye look brighter. There are many color options and the tube that it comes in is super convenient for use. This comes with a doe foot applicator that is easy to use and makes the whole concealing process a lot smoother. My top pick. Also – sale alert (!!!) this is only $14.50 today at Ulta so make sure to snag it if you’ve been eyeing it (pun intended)!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – This is many people’s favorite and for a good reason. If you want high coverage, look no further. This will cover up anything (I’m pretty sure if you had a tattoo under your eyes it would conceal it) but you have to be careful with it for that reason – a little goes a long way. This one can get cakey so you need to use just enough. I don’t use this daily, in fact, I only use it on days where I feel like my under eye area needs more help than usual but it’s a great concealer to have in your arsenal for days like that. I do wish the doe foot applicator was a bit smaller since it would help with overapplying but I’ve learned to work around that.

Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer – This is a more recent acquisition for me and I’m very happy I picked it up. The name of this concealer speaks the truth – your skin will look very radiant after using it and it sure is creamy. I love this on days where I’m going for a dewey/glowy look. The color selection is relatively wide and this also comes with a doe foot applicator which makes application easy.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye – I’ve actually never owned this concealer in full size. I have gotten samples of it from pretty much every beauty subscription service for which I am signed up. Since a little goes a long way with this one, those samples have always lasted me many months. One day, I’ll have to actually buy the full size of this one. Like the Shape Tape concealer, this one is also very high coverage. This will make any darkness or circles go away. You do have to be quick about setting this one with powder though as it can get cakey if you don’t (I find this to be true for most high coverage concealers). It’s a pretty thick consistency which explains the high coverage so I recommend applying this with a sponge to thin it out and blend it better.

Price: $24 for full size but available for $10 in travel size (will last you a long time!)

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer – I’m not going to lie, at first, I wasn’t that impressed with it but as time went on, I’ve learned to really like this concealer. It’s medium coverage and the applicator it comes with is a foam ball that helps apply (but can also make you over-apply so be careful) but this is a great concealer when you want your skin just to look natural and look like you’re not wearing any make up at all. It’s from the drug store which makes the price point a hell of a lot better than the ones listed above (sorry, I know all the other ones are a bit pricey).

Price: $8-10
