December Empties

When I first started my Empties series, I thought that I wouldn’t have enough products to write about every month because I have so many that it takes forever to use them up. Looking back, I find this pretty amusing considering I’ve had so many products to talk about each month, I’ve had to omit some just for sake of time. So clearly, using up enough products isn’t an issue.

While last month was an all black and white display, this month, I’m coming at you in full color. December was an expensive month for me because I used up a ton of my holy grail products and clearly, when one uses those up, one goes out and re-purchases them 😊 There are plenty of hair, make up and skincare products to talk about so without further ado…

Hair:

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo – First up, my favorite dry shampoo ever. This does the best job of any dry shampoo of getting rid of excess oil, doesn’t leave too much of a residue and smells nice. I recommend spraying this in before bed and letting it soak in overnight (something I suggest with any dry shampoo). This comes in a mini and a jumbo size and is usually available at Sephora but is currently out of stock so I’ve found it for you guys on Amazon. The packaging is also amazing and will brighten up your bathroom, dresser or wherever you store your hair products.

Morrocanoil Treatment – I was dying to try this and luckily was sent a mini bottle in one of my subscription boxes. This is probably my favorite hair oil I’ve ever used. It’s hydrating, smells great and makes the ends of my hair look healthy and shiny. Will definitely be purchasing the full size.

Rusk Deepshine Luster – This is a cream shine enhancer that I would apply to my damp hair before blowing it out. This stuff worked great and definitely did its job of making my hair look shinier. I don’t think it’s quite as good as the Colorwow Pop and Lock High Gloss Shellac but it’s more affordable so if you’re looking to spend a little less, you’d still get great results with the Rusk product.

12 Benefits Rapid Blowout Argan Oil Spray – Now let’s talk about possibly one of the most important hair products I own.  I’ve bought this at least ten times now because I have to have this to blow out my hair. I spray this on damp hair as a second to last step (last step is heat protectant). This will make your blowout last longer, the process quicker, make your hair look shinier, healthier and more manageable. One bottle generally lasts me about 3-4 months and that’s with me blowing out my hair about once a week.

Make-Up:

Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara – If you read my Top 5 Favorite Mascaras post, you already know how I feel about this mascara. This is a great mascara if you’re looking for lots of length and lots of volume. I consider this a “going out” mascara because for dark, smokey looks, I like to have big lashes and this mascara will definitely give you that. The tube also lasts a while and doesn’t dry out as quickly as most mascaras. Definitely recommend this one.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer – Not going to lie, wasn’t a huge fan. This didn’t prolong eyeshadow wear that much and was definitely subpar compared to my Urban Decay Primer Potion. It also dried out pretty quickly.

Tarteist Creamy Lip Paint in Birthday Suit – Just in time for this year’s Sephora birthday gift, let’s talk about last year’s. The creamy lip paint is essentially a liquid lipstick but one that is more forgiving in terms of application (doesn’t dry as fast and doesn’t dry your lips out as much). The color of this one can be described as the perfect nude. It didn’t pull too pink and didn’t pull too brown. The formula is great for those that are a bit intimidated by traditional liquid lipsticks.

NudeStix Lip Crayon in Mystic – Now let’s talk about my favorite lip color of all time. Mystic is a combination of mauve and brown and was probably my favorite discovery of 2017. I will re-purchase many times over and over because I can’t get enough of the creamy formula and the perfect color. Well done, Nudestix.

Pacifica Lipstick Wipes – A product I was very excited to try but very disappointed by. To be fair, this isn’t designed to take off liquid lipstick but that’s what I wanted it to do. As far as taking off regular lipstick, this did a good job. So if that’s all you want it to do, then by all means, pick this up. If you’re still looking for something to take off liquid lipstick well, I’m right there with you. Still searching.

Body:

Pacifica Sugared Flowers Shave Whip – Ending this Empties post on another Pacifica product. I was hoping this would replace my regular shaving cream and provide a better, smoother shaving experience but wasn’t very impressed. One, this barely lasted me three weeks. Two, it’s like 5x the price of a regular shaving cream and didn’t do as good of a job. I will not be re-purchasing and I do not recommend this.

That’s all for today my dears! Lots of products to talk about but lots of great products! I hope this inspires you to try out some new stuff and hopefully you like a lot of the products mentioned above as much as I do! As always, thank you for reading and don’t forget to follow me on InstagramPinterest and like my Facebook page!
