May Empties

Happy Friday everyone! I am ending the work week with a huge empties haul. This month was full of hair care empties and make up. Some other miscellaneous items made the cut as well. I feel like my empties posts are getting bigger and bigger – not sure what I’m doing different to use up more products but, oh well! More to share!

So let’s get into it…

Skincare

Laneige Waterbank Essence – Aka a hydrating serum. This serum was very hydrating but I don’t think I liked it as much as the Bare Minerals one I talked about in last month’s empties so I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing. My skin didn’t look as glowy and smooth as it did with the other serum.

Laneige Waterbank Moisturizer – I absolutely loved this stuff. It was very hydrating, didn’t have a strong scent and applied like a dream. The only thing I will say is that I do think it’s a bit thick for summer. I don’t think I’m going to repurchase it now but I do think I will get it during fall/winter time.

Make Up

NYX Eyeshadow in “Bedroom Eyes” – This isn’t really an empty but more of a broken eyeshadow that is no longer usable. This was my go to all over shadow for days when I couldn’t spend too much time on my make up and it somehow busted. I then ordered it from Ulta to replace the broken one and the second one came broken as well ☹ it’s like it’s not meant to be! I am determined to get this shadow back though because it is such a pretty color and is so perfect for just a one color shadow + mascara days. I love the formula and highly recommend picking this up (I’ll advise against ordering it online at this point).

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil – This is a great finishing powder that won’t ever have any flashback and will prevent creasing of your concealer. It’s not quite as good as the Laura Mercier setting powder but it’s still a good one. I won’t be repurchasing because I have my eye on another powder right now but I do still think this is a good one.

Colour Pop Setting Spray – This one is probably the biggest disappointment of the bunch. I was super excited to try this setting spray only to find a horrible nozzle (think the opposite of even applicaton. Splotchy spots everywhere after applying) which made this so hard to work with. Will not be re-purchasing and don’t recommend purchasing in general.

Hair Care

Tresemme Mousse for Curls – This has been one of my most used products for wearing my hair curly in the last 5 years or so. It has great hold so it’s perfect for curly gals. This also keeps frizz at bay. I would definitely recommend this and have already repurchased.

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo – Now here’s something I am not a fan of. This dry shampoo has the strongest scent ever and it’s not a good one. Think the scent of baby powder but very very strong and lingering. This also leaves a crazy white cast, more than any other dry shampoo I’ve ever used. I will not be re-purchasing.

Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo – This one was a dry shampoo I would recommend. This didn’t leave a white cast at all and did a great job refreshing your hair. The price tag however, is what’s keeping me from re-purchasing because I can buy 2 of my all time favorite dry shampoo (by Amika) for the price of one of these.

Living Proof No Frizz Hairspray – While this hairspray did not keep all the frizz away, it did the best job of any other anti-frizz hairspray I’ve ever tried. For that reason, I will keep repurchasing. The bottle will actually last a long time. Overall, I tend to be a fan of Living Proof products.

Body

Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub – This is my favorite body scrub of all time. It smells amazing and does a great job prepping your legs for shaving and exfoliating the body in general. The jar will last a very long time. I keep it in the shower and use it on my legs every single time before I shave and end up getting a smoother shave that lasts longer. Highly recommend this stuff.

That’s all for my empties today. Told you guys there was a lot. Hopefully you prefer a long list to a short one because I already have a feeling June is going to be a big month as well 😊

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I love the Oribe dry shampoo but with as much as I use it, I can’t justify that price tag. And I’m with you, Flake Away is one of my favorite exfoliating scrubs of all time! It smells amazing and is great before shaving and applying self-tanner! Thanks for sharing! xo
