Taking Florals to the Maxi

Labor Day weekend usually marks the end of summer. The whole “no white after Labor Day” thing starts coming up (a rule I disregard completely) and patterns change from florals to plaid. Florals are a pattern that very much come hand in hand with warm weather and today’s look is most likely, the last of its kind for this year.

I picked up this floral dress at Forever 21 a few weeks ago and have been looking for an occasion to wear it. It’s dressier than your average maxi dress as the skirt is full and features a slit right down the middle. I typically stick to flat sandals for maxis but with a dress of this kind, wedges seemed more appropriate. The dress sold out in my color (online) but the yellow version is still available. If you have a local Forever 21 close by, I would see if you can still snag the lavender version as online and in-store inventory is often very different.

Some other floral maxis I found that I loved:

Cold Shoulder Side Slit White Maxi
Black Floral Maxi – Great transition piece for fall fashion. Dark florals are going to be everywhere this fall.
Dark Floral Maxi from Boohoo

Let me know what you thought of this look and what pieces you’re looking to pick up to transition to fall weather! Happy Labor Day!
