How to Style Blazers Casually

Blazers have long left the office and started appearing in more casual settings – your Sunday morning brunch, date night or while running errands. A blazer over jeans, a graphic tee and some heeled booties will transform your daily errand run into a feel good outing; The kind that makes you wish that you’ll run into someone you know. Of course, that’ll never happen and you only run into people when you’re least prepared, but you know what I mean.

I have been into blazers for a few years now, especially during the time of my graduate school studies when I had rotations and constantly had to dress up in business casual attire. After graduation, the white coat that ultimately covers any cute top I want to wear and makes it impossible to wear blazers, bulky cardigans or anything similar to that category, made me forget about my love for blazers. Then, I went into Forever 21 during a shopping trip and fell in love with not one but two blazers and just like that, the spark was back.

I have never been a person to spend hundreds on a blazer for the sole reason that I wore them very rarely and that they were not a work requirement for me and never will. For that reason, I have always looked at affordable places like Forever 21, Zara, H&M, etc. for my blazers. Those places have never let me down.

Today, I’ll be sharing both of my new blazers from Forever 21 and how I styled them. Floral blazers are popping up everywhere right now and are also a fun wardrobe staple, especially if you do have to dress business casual for work.

When wearing blazers casually, I like to wear them over jeans with either a striped tee underneath or a graphic tee/statement tee that has a lower neckline. You’ll never see me rocking the blazer + turtleneck look. It’s just not for me. I also love wearing blazers over dresses. For summer/spring weddings, they’re a great thing to wear as if you get cold and throw it over your dress, you’ll still look ultra chic and put together. You can also steal your man’s suit jacket but it wouldn’t hurt to have your own.

In the first look, I paired this beige blazer up with a black cami, light wash jeans and snakeskin loafers. The jeans keep the look very casual and the loafers keep the look comfortable yet with some oomph. A striped tee would go great here as well as stripes and snakeskin are one of my favorite pattern matches. DSC00062DSC00073

I finished off the look with some gorgeous and perfect for spring earrings that I received in my latest Rocksbox and haven’t been able to them put down. Aren’t they so fun? I have a feeling this won’t be the last time you guys will be seeing these.

The second look is definitely a little more work oriented but in a way where it can go from work to happy hour and work perfectly for both. It’s this navy blue rolled sleeve blazer that I paired up with black skinny jeans and booties and finished off with some simple silver accessories.

Let me know how you guys feel about blazers and whether they make an appearance in your day to day style. As always, thank you for reading and don’t forget to follow me on InstagramPinterest and like my Facebook page!
