I’m not going to lie, I used to be very anti the shorts and long sleeve top look because it just didn’t make sense. If it’s hot enough to wear shorts, why are you wearing long sleeves? Then, I actually tried the style on myself and for whatever reason, it worked. Not only did it work, I loved how it looked. So fast forward to a few years later, and I wear this combo all the time.
The long sleeved tops have to be breezy tops to make this work. I’m not talking about sweaters. I’m talking about linen button ups, other button ups that roll up to your elbows and other light tops. In today’s outfit, I paired up a super breezy, high low, striped button up with distressed, light wash shorts and I think this works.
This top is still available and is super versatile. I’ve worn it to work, I’ve worn it out to brunch, and can think of so many other places to wear it. You can find it here and since it’s from SheIn, you already know it’s going to be super affordable.
Some other items from SheIn that would fit this category include:
I love nautical themed pieces for shorts in this situation and the sleeves are perfect for that in this top.
This piece would be a better option for classic shorts and not for distressed ones. Some white shorts paired with this floral top would look very pretty with some neutral wedges or some embellished sandals.
That’s all I have for today’s #stylepost. What are your thoughts? Is shorts and a long sleeved top still a no-no in your book or are you into the look?
Let me know!
As always, thanks for reading!
