Recent Empties

Not writing monthly empties posts for a few months meant that I had quite the build up of well, trash, sitting by my vanity. I decided it’s time to talk about the products I’ve used up over the last several months and ended up picking some highlights. By highlights, I mean products that I had a strong opinion about. Because of just how many products there were, ones that weren’t anything special just got tossed. I will be back to monthly Empties starting in April so the list most likely won’t be as long as today. So let’s just dive right in since there is a lot to talk about.

Beauty

Milk Make Up Kush Mascara – Let’s start with the one I liked the least so that it’s all positive from here on out. This was probably the biggest waste of money make up wise that I remember in my last few make up obsessing years. This was the clumpiest, smudgiest, most difficult to use mascara I’ve ever tried. My eyes turned raccoon like no matter how I applied this and how much product I wiped off the wand. This was just one big mess. I can’t believe I spent $24 on this mascara when I have so many good drug store ones I could use instead.

Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation – I actually received this via Influenster which was pretty awesome because I’ve always heard great things about this foundation. I liked it so much, I used it on my wedding day ( I did my own make up). This has a lot of coverage but doesn’t look cakey at all and is great for dry and normal skin types. It worked with every primer I’ve tried it with as well which was a big plus. I do want to try the foundation stick from this line next so I might hold off on re-purchasing the liquid foundation for now.

Kiko Extra Sculp Volume Mascara – I was so excited when I found a Kiko store in Cannes, France because I’ve always heard Kathleen Lights rave about their mascara but have never seen it sold anywhere in the US. I bought it for $3 (!) and for the first few weeks of using it, absolutely fell in love but that love diminished quickly because this turned super dry, super fast. So because of that, I’m not going to re-purchase.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer – I got this in my Sephora Play! Box back when I was still subscribed and actually really loved this primer. This was very similar to the Glossier Priming Moisturizer but a little less viscous. If you can snag it on sale, I’d say pick this up. If not, get the Glossier Priming Moisturizer instead. I won’t be purchasing the full size for now.

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer – This was the bougiest primer I’ve ever tried. It was YSL, it had specks of gold in it and I did like the results from it but it didn’t work with all my foundations and I just don’t feel like spending $52 on a primer so I will not be re-purchasing.

Estee Lauder Teint Idole Foundation Stick – This was my favorite foundation stick I’ve ever tried. The color match was perfect, the finish was flawless and it was really easy to work with. I will say, I had to work a little harder to get it to look good on days my skin looked really dry but other than that, this was great. This foundation stick has SPF in it too making it great for every day use. It lasted a while and worked with all my primers. I used my oval brush or a kabuki brush for application most of the time. Working with a beauty sponge sucked up too much product and the finish wasn’t as nice. Yes, I will be re-purchasing.

Skincare

Korres Greek Yogurt Foaming Face Wash – This was another Sephora Play! product that I absolutely loved. This face wash is super gentle, smells really nice and is great for being the second cleanser. I remove my eye make up with micellar water and then go in with a cleanser to wash off everything else and this worked really well. This wouldn’t be a good one step cleanser. I don’t think I’m going to re-purchase because I have so many other good cleansers right now but I did like this one.

Farmacy Honey Lip Balm – This was honestly nothing special and didn’t do much for me. I’ve liked other lip balms a lot more and had better results from them. This is not a good balm for winter time because it’s not as hydrating as you need it to be so I will not be re-purchasing.

Fresh Vitamin C Glow Moisturizer – I absolutely love this brand and this line. Everything has a nectarine scent so hence smells absolutely amazing! I love the face mask from this line as well. This was a great moisturizer for winter time. It was hydrating enough while still being light and worked well underneath all my make up. I am considering re-purchasing it.

Hair

Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Hair Mask – I was really targeted on Instagram for this hair mask because I swear, every time I logged on, I saw a sponsored video for it. I ended up actually getting it in my Ipsy bag (which is great considering I didn’t feel like spending $50 on a hair mask) and good thing I did because I didn’t like this at all. This made my hair greasy and forced me to wash my hair a lot earlier than I typically would. I got 4 uses out of it and gladly threw it out when I was done.

AG Hair Care Remedy Spray – Now this, I really liked. This was a leave in spray that I used before blowing out my hair and I do think that the recovery aspect of this works. My hair always looked a lot healthier and shinier after using this and this didn’t have a strong apple-cider vinegar scent to it. I would use a few other products on top of it, so by the end, there was no scent left at all. I am going to re-purchase especially since it’s on sale right now!

Miscellaneous

OPI “Got the Blues for Red” – This one is my all time favorite shade of red nail polish. This is a red with a blue undertone that literally looks perfect on everyone’s nails especially in the fall and winter. I am going to be re-purchasing this one, for sure.

There you have it! Lots of great products used up over the last few months and a few more coming to you in a few weeks for my March Empties! Stay tuned for that and I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I don’t think I’ve seen one positive review for the kush mascara. I think it’s time to reformulate that. Lol

    1. Seriously! Any time I saw a positive review (which I’ve seen a few), it literally made me wonder if I got one from a bad batch but after seeing way more negative reviews, I don’t think so!
