Hello, hello! I am doing my first ever split Empties post today. I haven’t written an Empties post in months therefore, I had a lot of products in my bin to talk about so the decision was made to split the post into haircare Empties and make up ones. I am starting out with haircare today. I don’t think anyone wanted to sit through a 30 product Empties post. That’s too overwhelming, even for me.
So, if you aren’t familiar with how my Empties post work – I talk about a product I used up in its entirety, I tell you pros and cons and the final verdict – whether or not I would repurchase. Pretty simple. So let’s jump right in.
Styling Products
Redken One United Multi Benefit Treatment Spray– This is probably my favorite leave-in conditioner that I’ve recently found. It smells amazing and does a lot of great things for my hair. It hydrates, detangles, conditions, helps prevent heat damage and split ends and many other things. In fact, it claims to have 25 benefits. I bought this 5 fl oz bottle to try it out and ended up buying the jumbo version once I ran out.
Price: $25
Where did I buy it? Ulta.
Would I repurchase? Already have in a bigger size.
Ouai Memory Mist – This product, as it turns out, got renamed and now goes under Ouai Heat Protection Spray. I was about to be very upset when trying to search for this on Sephora’s website and not having any luck while still calling it Memory Mist. What this product does is adds heat protection and locks in whatever heat style you create after applying. The reason this is unique is that it can be used on dry hair which most heat protectants are actually intended for use on wet hair. I spray this before going in with my wand to either fix the curls from my blow dryer or touch up my hairstyle. Highly recommend.

Dry Shampoo
Unwined by Hask Red Wine Inspired Dry Shampoo – Honestly, I can’t even find this on Ulta’s website anymore but I have to talk about this and warn everyone in case they come across it that this is the worst dry shampoo I’ve ever tried in my life. It leaves the worst white cast which literally takes what feels like hours to brush out and does not help your hair situation one bit. If anything, it makes it worse. If you see this, stay away.
Price: Not sure because it’s no longer available but it was definitely under $10

Would I repurchase? Hell, no.
Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo – I got this in a Fab Fit Fun box and honestly, I don’t think I’d ever buy this shampoo myself because of the price. It does a pretty good job but is no better than my favorite dry shampoo and costs like twice as much. I know people swear by this product and like I said, I do think it’s a good dry shampoo but I don’t think it’s worth it. If you want a great dry shampoo recommendation, try the Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo instead.
Price: $48
Where did I buy it? Didn’t buy it, came in Fab Fit Fun.
Would I repurchase? No.
Curly Hair Products
Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Defining Lotion – This is a great curl defining lotion that helps combat frizz and make your curls look better. I use this every time I wear my hair curly as the second step to my curly hair routine (after leave in conditioner). This bottle lasts forever too and is super affordable so A++ there.
Price: $8

Redken Curvaceous CCC Spray – Another product that is a staple in my curly hair routine. This CCC spray locks in your curls and helps them not get frizzy. I use this as my second to last step in my curly hair routine and as the only thing to revive my curls when I’m on day 2-3 after washing. You can overdo it on dry hair though, so I would recommend using a light hand . Looks like it’s no longer sold at Ulta, but Amazon still has it so I’ll order it from there next time.
Price: $19

IGK Sold Out Curl Priming Basecoat – This one ended up being a bit of a gimmekey product for me. This is supposed to be a product that you use before all your other curly hair products to “prep” your hair but didn’t make any difference for me at all. I used it up just to finish it honestly, but I don’t see a need for this in my current curly hair routine.
Price: $13.50

Hair Mask
IGK Prenup Instant Spray Hair Mask – I got this based on a Kathleen Lights recommendation and was not a fan. I honestly did not see a difference from this hair mask at all and happily went back to using my other tried and true hair masks in the shower. Yes, this is convenient and makes for an easy application because it’s a spray but who cares about ease of application when there’s no result.
Price: $15
