Winter Skincare Essentials

Temperatures are dropping and our skin is the first to react to this change. I always have to put extra effort into my skin and hair during the winter as it tends to get more dry and prone to breakouts (as a reference I typically have normal-combo skin). I’ve now developed a pretty solid army of skincare products that help me get through the winter and I’ll be sharing those today so let’s get started:

For the Lips:

Dr.Jart Ceramidin Lip Balm -I am definitely not a fan of the price of this one (who wants to spend $15 on a lip balm) but it is still so worth it. This lip balm contains ceramide ( which hold skin cells together and forms a protective layer that retains moisture) and moisturizing oil that relieves dry and lips to make them super soft and smooth. If you aren’t familiar with the entire Dr. Jart Ceramidin line – it is definitely one to check out. There is also a tinted moisturizer that is one of my summer time staples (and my summertime substitute for foundation) but more about that in my future summer skincare essentials post.

Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm – Yes, this was originally supposed to be a nipple balm for nursing mothers but it makes for a bomb lip balm and nothing keeps your lips more moisturized during the winter. I personally prefer to put this on before bed and this does miracles for your lips overnight. It does come in a tube and has a vaseline like texture and does leave your hands a little greasy if you don’t wash it off so be careful applying this.

For the Face:

Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre – I’m so happy to be seeing this moisturizer get the attention it deserves as lately I’ve been seeing more and more people talking about it. This moisturizer feels so light on the skin but brings the punch like a heavy cream when it comes to keeping your face from being dry. It doesn’t have a scent either which is nice for something that you’re putting on your face as scents in face creams usually come with irritation and can be a bit overbearing. This used to be sold at Sephora and for whatever reason is not sold there any longer but there are still plenty of places to pick this up (like Amazon and Birchbox)

Boscia Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask – I literally just raved about this product in my November favorites and here it is already making my list for my winter skincare essentials. I apply this before bed and when I wake up my skin looks more plump and all the dryness is gone. I definitely recommend picking this up if you are a fan of sleeping masks.

Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment – This one isn’t pictured above (since I just used it all up) but I will be re-purchasing this shortly and using it again. For those who haven’t tried Glamglow masks – they’re great but very pricey. I am lucky enough to have gotten a few different ones as samples from Birchbox and Sephora Play because committing to a $69 item that I am not sure will actually work is not something I tend to do. This mask is good for all skin types and I personally leave it on for about 20-25 minutes to get the best results.

For the Skin:

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Lotion – For those who have been reading my blog for a while, you are already aware that I am a big fan of this brand and pretty much anything they come out with I have to try. This is probably in my top 3 favorite products from this brand (and that is saying a lot because I like a lot of their products). This lotion smells amazing, is super easy to rub in and leaves your skin so hydrated. It also comes in a convenient pump (although it is a pretty big bottle so not ideal for transport).
