Can you guys believe it’s already the last month of summer? This was my first summer as a “true adult” aka no school, no studying for boards, just work and I’ve gotta say, it’s going just as fast as it did back in the summer break days.
Today, I’ll be sharing my favorite products, finds and re-discoveries of the month of July. July was the start of a new chapter for me and my husband as he started his residency and I discovered what the life of an intern spouse entails. In case you’re wondering, there’s a lot of late nights, a lot of your husband laying asleep on the couch as you make dinner cause he’s so exhausted and other things that I’m sure will be happening a lot over the next three years.
If you’re not following me on Instagram, this past month I did a little “challenge” where I tried a new make up product every day for 7 days and shared my first impression with you guys. It was a lot of fun to do and because of the awesome feedback I received, I will be doing that again later on this month. Thanks to that challenge alone, I tried a lot of products this month but it can’t be a favorite until it has truly proved itself and the things I’ll be talking about today have been proving themselves for a few weeks, so let’s get into them.
Make Up Favorites
Estee Lauder Pure Envy Liquid Lipstick – I recently went to an event at the Estee Lauder counter at Kenwood Mall where there was a master class introducing new products and new technologies from the brand. One of the things I picked up during this event was this liquid lipstick in the shade “Naked Ambition”. Guys, this is my new favorite liquid lipstick formula, ever. It’s not drying at all, this color is my perfect mauve and just overall, I can’t get enough. I will definitely be checking out some other shades because this formula has seriously impressed me.
Benefit Roller Lash – An old favorite that has re-surfaced. I’ve recently been in a mascara “rut” and decided to pick up an old favorite that I haven’t used in a few months and re-discovered my love for this mascara. If you want some seriously black, long and perfectly curled lashes, look no further. This mascara is a best-seller for a good reason.
Aspyn Ovard Tarte Palette – Now here’s an item that did make an appearance on my IG Stories challenge. I actually ended up using this palette literally every day for over a week after I first tried it out. This has the perfect mattes and the perfect shimmers for both an every day look and for night-time going out as well. The blush in this palette is also the perfect dusty rose shade. The one thing I don’t love in this palette is the highlight. It’s a bit too shimmery for me and emphasized the texture on my skin but I can overlook this for the rest of the palette.
First Aid Beauty Tinted Moisturizer – This was sent to me via Preen.Me to try out and I will definitely be picking up the full size version of this tinted moisturizer. It did a great job providing just enough coverage as well as SPF and has a really nice finish.
I recently placed an order on 6pm for two pairs of shoes and I am obsessed with both. One is a pair of Steve Madden leather platform sandals that I’ve been wearing non-stop since they’ve come in. The other is this gorgeous turquoise pair of Sam Edelman “Hazel” heels that are literally the most comfortable pair of heels I’ve ever worn. Highly, highly recommend checking both out.
Ebates – I first mentioned this in my Online Shopping Tricks post but if you’re not using Ebates already, you’re missing out. Ebates is a service that will get you cashback through a ton of different online retailers (Sephora, Nordstrom, etc) and places like Travelocity, Expedia, etc. So think about how much cashback you can get when your purchases are as big as renting hotels and flights! You get your monthly cashback check which is always very gratifying and I highly, highly, highly recommend using Ebates.
Last favorite is literally the thing that has taken up the most of my time second to work this month and that is the show, The Americans. Yes, I realize I’m late in the game as the show’s final season starts this fall but man, I can’t get enough. I was apprehensive at first because being Russian and being used to Russians being the villains in most movies and shows, I’m usually not a fan, but this time, with Russians actually being the main characters (the antiheroes, really), I’ve really really enjoyed this show. We are watching it on Amazon Prime, in case you’re wondering where you can catch all the seasons.
That’s all I have for you all, for my favorites this month! Let me know if you’ve tried any of the products mentioned today and what products you recommend for me to try out for this month!
As always, thanks for reading! 😊
